Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities with the Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems and the Friends of the Farm & Garden include helping with community events, working at the UCSC Farm or Alan Chadwick Garden, taking part in our docent program, and other activities. We especially need volunteers to help with our annual Harvest Festival in the fall.

The 2019 Volunteer Docent Training Program runs from March 11–April 22 (seven consecutive Monday evenings). See this link for details on how to get involved.

Volunteers are welcome to help harvest and glean foods at the UCSC Farm starting in early June. The weekly schedule:

• UCSC Farm Garden, Tuesdays and Fridays, 8-10 am for harvest. Meet at the Veggie Shed on the Farm (through October)

• UCSC Farm Field (meet at packing shed) - stay tuned for 2017 gleaning schedule. Produce will be donated to the campus's food pantry at Family Student Housing.

Wear close-toed shoes, sun protection, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Please note that parking restrictions apply; you will need to get a parking permit if bringing a car to campus.
