November 02, 2023

The UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology is hiring an event and outreach coordinator to coordinate event logistics for facilities renters, plan Center-hosted events, and manage Center outreach activities.

The Center for Agroecology (the Center) is an organization, housed in the UC Santa Cruz Division of Social Sciences, that works to advance agroecology and equitable food systems through research, education, and public service. The Center manages the UCSC Farm and Chadwick Garden on the UC Santa Cruz campus, both internationally known sites for training and research in organic horticulture and agriculture. Students, faculty, and researchers use both the Farm and Garden as research and teaching sites. The 3-acre Chadwick Garden exhibits a diverse collection, including ornamentals, annual and perennial food crops, an extensive planting of fruit trees (including more than 120 apple varieties), and native California species.

The Center manages facilities on the UC Santa Cruz campus, including the historic Cowell Ranch Hay Barn. This event space is available to the campus and community as an event space and also acts as office, classroom, and meeting space for Center for Agroecology staff and students. The event and outreach coordinator will coordinate communication and logictics with Hay Barn rental clients and will help to plan and support Center for Agroecology hosted events and outreach activities. The event and outreach coordinator will also oversee the Center's volunteer program.
